Heritage Days

The team of volunteers from Les Amis de l’Abbatiale and the resident organists look forward to welcoming you to explore a typical Austrian Baroque abbey church – the only one of its kind in the Grand Est region – as well as its historic organ, built by the Saxon organ builder André Silbermann. 

Saturday:

• 1.30pm-5.30pm: self-guided tour (welcome and guidance provided by volunteers), welcome in the Silbermann gallery by a resident organist, tour of the sacristy, video screening and photos in the transept

• 3pm-4pm: lecture by Rémy Braumeisen: ‘Without them, there would be no history: the role of women in the memory of the Étichondes’, focusing on the often overlooked role of women in preserving the memory of the Dukes of Alsace, from the 7th century to the European princely lineages.

Sunday:

• 10am-12pm: self-guided tour (welcome and guidance by volunteers), welcome in the Silbermann organ loft by a resident organist, tour of the sacristy, video screening and photos in the transept

• 11am: replacement of the painting above the High Altar by members of the Parish Council

• 1pm-5pm: self-guided tours (welcomed and guided by volunteers), welcome on the Silbermann organ loft by a resident organist, tour of the sacristy, video screening and photos in the transept

• Presentation on the craft of organ building by Julien Marchal (Koenig organ workshop), subject to availability

• 4 pm: musical demonstration of the Silbermann organ by a resident organist
