National Architecture Days

As part of the National Architecture Days, two exclusive tours are on offer:

• 17 October: the Saint-Georges Church restoration site. Discover the restoration work being carried out on Saint-Georges Church. Classical, radiant and flamboyant, this Gothic church is a building with many faces. Like the town of Sélestat itself, this building has stood the test of time and has been a privileged witness to significant events. Meet on the church forecourt. Suitable for: adults. Duration: approximately 45 minutes

• 18 October: in the footsteps of the former grain market. The renovation project, launched in 2014, aimed to restore the Humanist Library to its original grandeur. Designed in 1843, the former grain market impresses with its majestic proportions and imposing structure, which transcends its simple utilitarian function of the time. Today, this stone setting houses a very different kind of treasure: that of books, literature and thought. Accompanied by a guide, discover traces of the era when horse-drawn carts passed easily through the building’s doors and gain an insight into architect Rudy Riciotti’s desire to return to the building’s roots. Audience: adults. Duration: approximately 1 hour
