Show - The Genealogy of Lies
Description

THEATRE - Ages 13 and up.
Why and how do we tell stories?
We hear and tell stories all the time, every day. They're as natural to us as language itself. We have no trouble understanding them, remembering them or inventing them. We know full well that others do the same. And yet, we believe them. Fiction is that very special skill that enables us to make plans, to navigate between what is predictable and what we imagine, to conceive of all alternatives, even the most improbable.
In a joyful chaos, Valéry and Amandine, on stage, will dissect this "narrative disease" that has taken hold of our species. They'll introduce us to its rules and grammar, and the tools that make it up. What makes a good story different from a bad one? What makes a good Western? A comedy? How do we manipulate our emotions through stories? What do we choose to tell ourselves? What does it induce in our lives?
And why, ultimately, do we tell ourselves so many stories?
