Hiking trail C12 : La Chatte Pendue & Côte de Plaine
Plaine
			Description

La Chatte Pendue peaks at 899m. From there, you have all-encompassing views of the Champ du Feu range, the Climont and the Donon. But what makes the site so unique is its unusual name, which has given rise to all sorts of stories. It used to be called "Pirre hhatte pendaïe", meaning tall hanging stone. The guttural pronunciation of the "H" or transcription mistakes turned the "hhatte" into "chatte" meaning female cat. So in 1847, a beautiful handwritten Water & Forests map mentions the Pierre de la Chatte Pendue.
