European Heritage Days - Tour of the Old Courtroom - City Hall
Guided Tours.
A Renaissance gem: the former Courtroom (early 17th century) – Obernai City Hall.
Open to the public on a special occasion, the former Courtroom features sumptuous Renaissance décor with inlaid wood paneling and murals depicting subjects in keeping with the room’s function.
Depicting the Ten Commandments, the room’s frescoes illustrate how, during the Renaissance in Alsace, human justice was meant to be inspired by divine justice.
