Exposition des crèches de Belgique
Description

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is hosting a major exhibition of nativity scenes, each highlighting a specific region or country.
For this edition, we’re heading to Belgium!
Since the late 19th century, the art of nativity scenes has become firmly established in Belgium.
Specialized workshops known as “sainteries” have sprung up in Ghent, Namur, Liège, Verviers, and Brussels, mass-producing small, molded and painted plaster figurines inspired by Italian craftsmanship, with each workshop developing its own unique color palette using pigments mixed with linseed oil.
This unique exhibition invites you to discover these works from across the country, showcasing a remarkable diversity of techniques and craftsmanship: ceramics, marquetry, clay, coil-building pottery, wrought iron…
This exhibition is part of the “Sentier des Crèches des Noëlies” (Noëlies Nativity Scene Trail).
Open only in the afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on December 4, 18, and 31
